How Much do Car Accident Attorneys Charge?
We offer legal representation on all non workers’ compensation injury matters on a contingency fee basis. So no attorney fee unless you are compensated for your injuries. Workers’ compensation, while also on a contingency fee basis is governed by the Workers’ Compensation Act and its rules are different. Fees attorneys are allowed to charge are set by the New Jersey Court rules.
Attorney fees for minors or someone mentally incapacitated at the time of the agreement shall not exceed 25%. For all others attorney fees are as follows
(1) 33⅓% on the first $750,000 recovered;
(2) 30% on the next $750,000 recovered;
(3) 25% on the next $750,000 recovered;
(4) 20% on the next $750,000; and
What Will I Put in My Pocket?
Our office will advance all costs of the case. These costs are reimbursed when we successfully resolve your case. The costs are reimbursed off the top then the attorney fee is applied to the balance. Lets use for example a case with no medical or other liens and we obtained a $100,000.00 resolution and incurred $10,000.00 in costs. Those costs would be reimbursed first leaving $90,000.00. Then the attorney fee would be roughly $30,000.00 (33.33% x $90,0000.00). This would leave a net sum of $60,000.00 for the client which is federal and state tax free.
